About Us

The Department of Hematology/Oncology was established in July 2008 when Shuang Ho Hospital was started to operate. The goal of our department is to provide “Holistic Care” and “Individual Care” to patients. Besides malignant disease, the diagnosis and treatment of benign hematological disorders are provided as well. We are in charge of the operation of Cancer Center in which multidisciplinary teams of various cancers are included. Dr. Peng Wang Jia Kang was invited to serve as the director of the Cancer Center at the beginning.

The Department of Hematology/oncology was led by Professor Chi-Ming Lai until September 2010. Currently, the department and the Cancer Center are led by Professor Tsu-Yi Chao who was the former chief of the Department of Hematology/Oncology of Tri-Service General Hospital, one of the medical centers in Northern Taiwan. There are four other attending physicians in our department: Dr. Yung-Cheng Su and Dr. Wei-Hong Cheng (both trained in Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital), Drs. Yao-Yu Hsieh (trained in Taipei Veterans’ General Hospital), Dr. Huey-En Tzeng (trained in Taichung Veterans’ General Hospital). All of our attending physicians are capable of providing the most up-to-date care for hematological and oncological patients.

In April 2011, we have achieved the first patient of peripheral blood stem cell transplantation and then were certificated as the hematologic/medical oncologic training hospital in 2012. The Hemophilia Center was established on January 3, 2012.

We believed that under the efforts of all staff, the Department of Hematology and Oncology would provide the best, advanced and humane medical services to the community.

We hope that keeping “patient-centered”, ”innovative” medical concepts and skills in order to improve the diagnosis and outcome of the hematologic and oncologic disease.
