Reproductive Medicine Center

The infertile population keeps growing nowadays because of late marriage, great stress, environmental pollution and eating disorders in modern life. In Taiwan, one in every seven couples had been found to be affected by infertility. To this end, Shuang Ho Hospital invites experts in reproductive medicine along with novel technologies to found "Center for Reproductive Medicine" located at the 6th floor in the 1st Medical Building. The Center has been certificated by Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare in March 2017. In the aid of advanced reproductive technologies, it is our destination to make infertile couples dreams come true.

Sleep Center

Of the types of treatment for sleep disorders, pharmacological treatment, without a doubt, is accounted for an important position, such as treating chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome (RLS), periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD), narcolepsy, and other disorders. However, currently, many number of empirical research studies also show the following non-pharmacological treatments that have had significant improvement effect on treating the symptoms of chronic insomnia, sleep apnea, biological clock confusion, and other sleep disturbances.

Center of Palliative Medicine

Palliative care ward

1. The patient or family members must accept the concept of palliative care.

2. Terminally ill cancer patient, whose diagnosis shows no curative medical care will be effective anymore, is eligible for the unit.

3. If a symptom can't be adequately managed by the hospice care team in a home setting, a hospital stay might be needed.

 

Palliative Home Care

Palliative Home Care Program is designed to provide symptom management while treating the whole person, and allowing patients the choice of receiving high-quality, personalized care in their own home setting.

 

Hospice shared care

Purpose of establishment: 

The establishment of the center has always been adhering to the concept of "caring, commitment, and innovation".

It is committed to implementing high-quality services centered on hemophilia patients, implementing the concept of promoting preventive injections, reducing joint disease and changing other complication disease, and allowing patients to have a better quality of life.

Cancer Center

We have Cancer Experts

The Cancer Center consists of 13 functional groups and 12 medical teams. Acting as the center of cancer care, it integrates clinicians and nurses of different specialties, nutritionists, pharmacists, social workers, religious practitioners, specialization volunteers, and community resources in order to provide cancer patients a treatment with multi-disciplinary approaches. Dr. Jacqueline Whang-Peng, the honorary vice superintendent; Dr.Tsu-Yi Chao, chief of the cancer center, are currently leading the entire faculties to promote and ensure the continuing improvement of cancer prevention, screening program, quality of diagnosis and treatment, safety issues, personalized and precision therapy, integrated multi-disciplinary model, translational and clinical research, as well as education in Shuang-Ho hospital (SHH).

Early treatment

 

Early treatment is an integrated service for children aged 0-6 with developmental delay. The service content integrates assessment and treatment, and provides a variety of professional integrated interventions, including physicians (rehabilitation, pediatric neurology, pediatric psychology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dentistry... etc.), professional therapists ( Occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech therapist, psychotherapist, audiologist... etc.), social worker, case manager, etc. Integrated early treatment and education services can reduce parents' rush when seeking assistance. "Early detection, early treatment" is an important principle for dealing with diseases, especially for children with developmental delays (disorders). A complete assessment can identify the children’s problems in various aspects, and then provide the necessary treatment, as well as provide parents with parent-child interaction skills and home training methods. Provide a lot of needed stimulation to promote the development of children.

Stroke Center

    The department of neurology at Taipei Medical University-Shuanghe Hospital has 
established a stroke center in October 2009. Our multidisciplinary team of emergency medicine physicians, vascular neurosurgeons, interventional neuroradiologists and stroke care experts work together to provide immediate assessment and management. This team ensures the quality of treatment and care of acute stroke, vascular stenosis or blockage. There are neurologists on duty 24 hours a day.

    Working together with ED, patient with suspected acute ischemic strokes will complete acute stroke surveys in time, including computer tomography, blood testing, and nuclear magnetic resonance. Venous thrombolytic therapy will be administered in patient of symptoms within 4.5 hours of onset. For those with large artery occlusions, mechanical arterial thrombectomy can be arranged in patients presenting in the 6 to 24 hour time window. Our team provides a full-range of medical, surgical and image-guided care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in order to promote chances of good recovery. Time is brain. The sooner the treatment is performed; the better is the patients prognosis. 

    The ischemic stroke team has organized many stroke group activities for post-stroke issues care and also assisted in the World Stroke Day. Our center has also established  Taiwan Stroke Friends Association-Shuanghe Branch since March 2, 2013, where patients and community can come together to addressed more comprehensive stroke-related help resources. We will continue to invest more in medical research and provide highest quality of care for all stroke patients in order to have better functional outcomes and quality of life.

Dementia Center

Shuanghe Hospital Dementia Center provides patients with a full range of integrated services

According to research, the global dementia population is increasing by one person every 3 seconds, and it is estimated that by 2050 there will be as many as 130 million dementia patients worldwide. Dementia not only causes the gradual deterioration of daily life functions of patients, but also brings heavy physical and mental pressure to caregivers. Shuang Wo Hospital conducted a 3-year study on the elderly population with chronic diseases in outpatient clinics starting from 2012. It was found that nearly 27% of the cases belonged to the high-risk group of dementia, but most of the cases had never received relevant evaluation or treatment for dementia.


The purpose of establishing the Dementia Center at Shuang Wo Hospital is to provide a full range of integrated services for dementia patients, including early diagnosis and treatment, a continuous care platform for the acute and subacute stages of the disease, continuous follow-up after returning to the community, Social resource information provision, and the construction of a dementia information platform, etc. In line with the basic tenet and service mission of "protecting the health of the community", Shuang Wo Hospital established an interdepartmental "Dementia Center" in 2015. The team members include: neurologists, psychiatrists, special dentists, nurses, Case managers, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists, nutritionists, community medical departments and other professional medical care personnel.

Breast Health Care Center

The center provides “patient-centered” medical services to create a warm and trusting environment. The equipment, diagnosis and treatment all link up with the world. We provide comprehensive medical care for breast cancer patients, including complete medical team. The service comes from the breast cancer team members which consist of different professional medical department. The Case-Manager provides the nursing education and nursing consultation, and uses the medical disease sharing decision-making modal to reach the consensus of medical diagnosis and treatment with patient.

The center is the first “Dental and Defy Medical Service Demonstration Center for People with Disabilities”. Its purpose is to enable special needs to get good oral medical services and a comfortable medical environment, and to improve the accessibility of dental care services for those with special needs. The outpatient clinic is mainly based on the appointment system, supplemented by on-site registration; in addition to general outpatient, sedation and general anesthesia services, it has continued to develop into residential medical services in recent years. Considering the particularity of the medical community, integrating the relevant departments required for care, such as psychiatry, pediatrics, rehabilitation, anesthesiology and social workers, and establishing a dental care network for special needs, looking forward to fulfilling social responsibilities In the oral health of people with special needs.

Emergency Education Center (EEC)

During an emergency or unexpected incident, well-trained medical personnel are needed to provide rapid response and prompt action to protect the health and safety of individuals and community. Our center is established to achieve the goals of providing high-quality training courses as part of emergency preparedness; and assisting emergency planning, organizing and implementing of first aids station or medical support on any kind of public events.

 

Basic training course (BLS) for non-medical individuals, EMT courses for paramedics, or advance cardiac life support (ACLS) for medical personnel are taught by boarded-certificated healthcare providers with emergency and critical care background. More persons know life support skill, more persons will be saved.

 

Through a hospital-based center, we are integrating the hospital resources including trained personnel and emergency relevant facility, equipment and materials, as well as prehospital medical services to provide medical support on large-scale public activities. All members are well-trained and required to complete standard training course associated with emergency medicine. With understanding of the event and venue, the forward thinking, creative and inclusive planning, the overall goal of safety and an enjoyable event can be achieved!

Radionuclide Therapy Ward

Our hospital’s radionuclide therapy ward provides inter-specialty clinical services by combining Department of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of General Surgery, Department of ENT and Department of Hematology and Oncology, etc. In addition, our team consists of outstanding physicians, nurses, radiation technologists, nutritionists and social workers to provide comprehensive care. The ward is equipped with state of the art radio-waste storage and radiation safety gears. The patients’ radiation level will be measured by most advance detectors. The staff utilize cloud based intelligent video equipment to monitor and communicate with the patients. The ward is an ideal treatment facility catering to both the comfort and radiation safety of the patients.

Center for Inherited Kidney Diseases

Diagnostic and Treatment Center for Inherited Kidney Diseases

Introduction

       This center was officially established in Shuang Ho Hospital on October 4, 2023. It is responsible for the provision of disease-related information, dietary and lifestyle precautions, and personalized treatments to patients with inherited kidney diseases (e.g. polycystic kidney disease, Fabry disease, etc.). In order to improve patients’health-related quality of life, the center also aims to explain correct concepts to patients who are about to face dialysis while releasing their doubts and fears. Furthermore, the center plays a crucial role in delivering physical as well as mental support before, during, and after kidney transplant surgery.

       Our center plans to hold an international academic conference on polycystic kidney disease every year, providing a platform for scholars, doctors and experts to exchange and share research results, clinical experiences and treatment methods, and thus advancing the dissemination of polycystic kidney-related knowledge and the promotion of different kinds of researches. For all participants, it is not only an excellent opportunity to explore the latest research trends and best practices in the field of polycystic kidney disease, but also a great occasion to gain valuable international exposure and develop international friendships. It is expected that this annual conference will attract experts and scholars from all over the world to join forces to expand cross-border cooperation and innovative treatment solutions involving polycystic kidney disease.
