Service Introduction

The Medical Imaging Department of the Shuang Ho Hospital introduced the latest model of the GE magnetic resonance imaging instrument (3.0T&1.5T) in the entire Asia to provide the diagnosis recipient with the fastest and most accurate whole-body diagnosis. Furthermore, the first biplane digital angiography imager (GE) in Taiwan was introduced, along with the 64- and 16-array high-speed computed tomography scans, high-resolution ultrasound scanner, and mammography instruments. Also, all classical X-ray machines were replaced with digital X-ray machines (DR and CR) to provide the care recipients with the much more comprehensive and high quality diagnosis services.
The Department upholds the belief that prevention is more important than treatment and actively develops the coronary artery calcification diagnosis index assessment to diagnose the coronary syndromes, computed tomography angiography of coronary arteries, computed tomography colonoscopy, and low-dose computed tomography of chest for the lung cancer screening. For cancer, the leading canse of death in Taiwan, we are also striving to develop a transarterial embolisation treatment on the tumors and invasive sampling techniques for the unknown tumors in various body parts. The “Early Diagnosis, Early Treatment”can be achieved in the circumstance.
To improve medical service quality for the patients and to provide the clinicians with teaching and clinical research, the Department constructed the digital picture archiving and communication system(PACS) and enabled the systems to inter-link the functions and operational processes by collaborating with the Hospital Information System (HIS), Laboratory Information System (LIS), and Radiology Information System (RIS). Besides, the Department uses the new models for X-ray machines (DR and CR), enabling the imaging information to be transmitted across the departments and hospitals. The Department’s imaging diagnosis services have therefore entered into a new digital era.

Teaching and Research

In addition to enriching the faculty’s in-service education, the Department also provides internship to medical students. Therefore, the emphasis is especially given to the cultivation of the teaching faculty. Aside from the grants from the Hospital, the Department also enacts the research grant plans and encourages the faculty to opt graduate study and research. If any faculty member demonstrates and publishes great accomplishments, the Department will not hesitate to offer any incentive for inspiring and enhancing the overall quality of the faculty members within the Department. The departmental curriculums are organized for different professionals and students, and the associated professionals are arranged for giving the instructions. The content of the instructor’s teaching plan must be updated at the appropriate time for improving the teaching quality. In the end of the semester, the instructor will perform the learning assessment on the students. In the same manner, students can also propose recommendations for course contents and teaching faculty through the course feedback questionnaire for facilitating the interactive communications between the students and the teachers in order to offer the best curriculum for faculty members’ passion.
